Get to Know the Heart Behind Taking Clipping out of Couponing
It can be so frustrating to think about clipping and organizing coupons just to save a few cents here and there.
After being introduced to a coupon blog by one of her older sisters during Thanksgiving dinner (2009), Marcy adventured into a whole new way to save money --- sharing deals over the internet. Wondering if more than just the local coupon blog was on the Web, Marcy was exposed to an echo of conversations about how to get toothpaste... shampoo... conditioner... razors... body wash... for free or nearly-free and boxes of cereal for $1.25 or less.
The deals were so overwhelming she was spending hours a week and pads of Post-its just trying to keep up. Simultaneously, Marcy was training for a 1/2 marathon with a neighbor and rather than just preparing their bodies for the 13.1 mile run, Marcy and her friend discussed couponing and how to get the greatest discounts through a more efficient process (all while running in the snow, rain, or sunshine).
The excitement for the tried + true resources Marcy was finding also bubbled over to phone and face-to-face conversations with friends and family (near and far away). More and more deals and resources were being uncovered and shared. As ideas became spreadsheets and spreadsheets became shopping adventures, Marcy began inviting friends, family, and friends and family of her friends and family into her home to learn how to save hundreds of dollars on things they already were buying.
Fast forward 12 months with resounding encouragement and helpful pointers from her students, Marcy has partnered with a local venue to teach groups of students through hands-on computer/Internet learning and field trips to Target and Walgreens.
Rather than keeping her findings secret, Marcy aims to empower others to save both time and money by Taking Clipping out of Couponing.
